The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition advances the treatment of pediatric gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders through coordinated patient care, research, and educational activities.

At the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, we are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children with gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders. Our team of compassionate physicians, nurse practitioners, and dietitians work together to provide advanced diagnostic procedures and treatments.

We care for children with a wide range of conditions, from common issues like reflux and constipation to complex diseases of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. For children with acute or chronic liver disease, we offer specialized services, including care in collaboration with Duke’s liver and small bowel transplant program.

Forward-Focused, Unmatched Teamwork

To ensure comprehensive care, we partner with specialists in pediatric surgery, transplant surgery, colorectal surgery, otolaryngology, radiology, and interventional radiology. This teamwork ensures children can access the latest therapies.

Our division is also at the forefront of research, advancing treatments for conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, short-bowel syndrome, liver disease, and neurogastrointestinal disorders such as gastroparesis and irritable bowel syndrome. By participating in research, we are working to provide better options for children today and in the future.

Finally, we are committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of pediatricians to ensure continued excellence in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition.
