Residents' Perspective

Welcome! If you are reading this, then you’re probably interested in the Duke Pediatric Neurology Residency Program. As the current residents in the program, we want to take this opportunity to share some details regarding our program and provide firsthand insight.

Due to plans for virtual recruitment this year, many of you will not have the opportunity to see our campus first-hand. We hope this doesn’t prevent you from getting an in-depth understanding of our program and the culture of Duke. We pride ourselves on diversity, teamwork, and a dedication to patient care. These core values are not only seen within our residency program, but throughout our institution as a whole.

Residency training can be a time of stress and anxiety. We are thankful to have a program in which we feel supported as trainees, yet are given autonomy as we progress through the program. Our faculty are incredibly approachable and accessible. Our suggestions and input are actively sought to ensure the residency program is running well.

With the rise of COVID-19, changes were made to ensure our learning continues. All didactic activities have continued through virtual platforms and are now slowly transitioning to a hybrid of in-person and virtual teaching. We are actively engaged in telehealth delivery platforms and are learning how to utilize this system for the care of our patients, for both now and in the future.

The opportunities to learn and grow are readily available. No matter what path you choose after residency, the Duke program will support you and ensure you are ready for the challenges that await.

If you would like to communicate with any of us about the program, please feel free to reach out to our program’s leadership, and they will put you in touch.

We have enjoyed our time here at Duke and hope you will strongly consider applying to our program.

Best of luck!
