Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a medium-sized program that offered great preparation for both primary and specialty care. Coming into residency, I am still not sure what professional track I plan on taking. Duke gives me the flexibility to be prepared for both with the added benefit of a large number of fellowships available both at Duke and nearby UNC should I choose to specialize.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The strengths of the Duke program is a schedule that offers more elective opportunities, a night shift schedule that provides increased feedback for overnight admissions while making the day teams workload easier to manage, and a program staff that is available, responsive, and dedicated to your success.

About Duke University and Durham

What’s the best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The Triangle offers the benefits of three unique cities in one. The food and affordability of a revitalized Durham, the small-town charm of Chapel Hill with it's Franklin St. and adjacent towns of Carrboro and Hillsborough, and the museums and entertainment of Raleigh with its three major concert venues. Plus if you love college sports as I do, you are in the heart of the ACC. If outdoors are more of your interest, then the beautiful Appalachian Mountains or the scenic NC coast are both within a three-hour drive.
