Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a great Pediatrics program that combined excellent clinical training, a supportive learning environment, and a beautiful location. Duke had it all!

What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you (i.e. committees, research, interest groups, QI, etc.)?
I hope to get involved in programs that focus on medical education and wellness.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The people! Everyone here is incredibly talented, bright, and passionate. I feel very fortunate to train with such dedicated individuals that encourage you to not only grow as a pediatrician but also as a person.

About Duke and Durham

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The people! Everyone here is incredibly talented, bright, and passionate. I feel very fortunate to train with such dedicated individuals that encourage you to not only grow as a pediatrician but also as a person.

What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The location! You are only a few hours from hiking in the mountains or enjoying a nice day on the beach! There's awesome breweries, restaurants, and places to explore. Being from the Pacific Northwest, I really appreciate the amount of lakes, trails, and outdoor activities that Duke country has to offer.

What advice would you give about moving to Durham?
Renting a house or townhouse is the way to go! Houses can be more affordable than the apartments near Duke.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy outside chilling! If I'm not at the hospital, you can find me at the nearest hiking trail, disc golf course, pool, or tennis court. I also enjoy video games, sports (go Seahawks!), dogs, and grilling!

What is something surprising/interesting about you?
I worked as a camp counselor every summer growing up back in Washington state!
