Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program that felt like family. It was important for me to see how well residents and faculty seemed to know each other and enjoy working together. As a Child Neurology applicant, I was paying special attention to how combined program residents were integrated into the program during the pediatrics years. The best test for me was going to sleep at night imagining myself as a Duke resident and waking up feeling Duke would be just as excited to have me as I was to be here!

What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you (i.e. committees, research, interest groups, QI, etc.)?

About Duke and Durham

What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The Triangle is full of trails, lakes, and parks for exploring on free days and evenings. You could hike or run somewhere different every day for a month without driving more than 30 minutes. Being so close to both the beach and the mountains is perfect for quick, relaxing trips!

What do you like to do outside of work?
I love running and strength training to calm down after a long day at work. You can definitely find me snuggled up in a blanket with some popcorn making predictions for the season when The Bachelor is on. I also enjoy being the official taste tester for my husband’s backyard BBQ (ribs and wings hot off the smoker are my favorites).
