REFLECTIONS ON THE DUKE PROGRAM

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a university hospital with a strong pediatric critical care program (including cardiac ICU) and research opportunities (DCRI) that was geographically close to family.

What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you?
I am interested in getting involved in research related to Pediatric Trials Networks (pharmacokinetics) and possibly Global Health opportunities as well. One committee that I would be interested in learning more about is the Residents as Teachers committee.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
As a large academic center, Duke has the resources and infrastructure to provide cutting-edge care in every subspecialty. It attracts brilliant people from across the nation and around the world creating an ideal learning environment. Moreover, the campus is beautiful with its many green spaces and trails which foster an overall positive state-of-mind.

MORE ABOUT THE RESIDENT

What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to swim, go on runs, and play beach-volleyball. I also enjoy exploring new restaurants/cafes and I do a lot of cooking as well.

What is something interesting/surprising about you?
I am fluent in Arabic.
