Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I was looking for a program that I knew would give me a well-rounded education in all aspects of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and not just oncology. Seeing a program’s heme and transplant programs is where you really saw the differences in programs throughout the country. I was also seeking a program that fostered a supportive and collaborative culture but also gave fellows autonomy in leading the inpatient unit and serving as the primary for patients.

What are the strengths of the Duke program:
Supportive colleagues and great working environment, autonomy in patient care, opportunities for education in clinical care and research

What are your research interests:
Translational research investigating novel targeted agents against fusion-positive and fusion-negative rhabdomyosarcoma

About Duke University and Durham

What’s the best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
My experiences in Durham have been limited so far, but my favorite thing so far has been paddle boarding on Jordan Lake and exploring the city of Durham. I love all of the restaurant and brewery options here! I am looking forward to catching some Duke sports games and seeing the coast.

Personal interests

What do you like to do outside of work?
Exercise, hiking, paddleboarding, scuba diving
