What are the strengths of your training program?
Amazing opportunities to explore career interests through programs like the medical education leadership track and improvement science leadership course. Faculty and staff are incredibly welcoming. Duke provides an ideal environment to launch your future career, whether that may be in clinical or academic medicine.
How are you involved in research? What are your research interests?
I have research interests span both translational and quality improvement research within primary immunodeficiency and allergic asthma. My current work focuses on improving our approach to newborn screening for severe combined immunodeficiency both at the state and local level. In addition, I am working to better characterize the influence of environmental allergies among children with asthma, and how we can utilize markers of allergic disease to better identify at-risk children.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
In my free time, I enjoying spending time with my spouse and kids, and exploring all that Durham and the surrounding area has to offer. These include: hiking, camping, visiting family, gardening, and DYI projects around the house.
