Reflections on the Duke program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program that was small enough to know each resident on a personal level, but large enough to offer me every opportunity you would find at a large academic medical center. As a child neurology applicant I wanted to make sure the neurology training was exceptional as well as the general pediatrics training so I am able to become a well-rounded physician!
What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you (i.e. committees, research, interest groups, QI, etc.)?
I am hoping to find a way to incorporate global medicine into my training, potentially through research in my pediatric years leading into an elective abroad later in my training.
About Duke and Durham
What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I love how accessible everything is around Durham! Everything is a 15-minute drive so I don't hesitate to jump in the car and go get some ice cream or take a quick drive to the gym. I enjoy going downtown for the farmers market, and exploring local restaurants, bars and coffee shops!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and cooking. I have a bucket list of trips I am planning around NC for my days off, so I am excited to start exploring the area!
