About Duke and Durham

What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The Triangle is an amazing place to live! The food scene has developed a lot in the area in the past couple of years. There are new restaurants popping up all the time (check out Kahlovera Street Tacos, Mediterranean Grill and Grocery, and Mateo)! There are also new young professionals and families moving to the Triangle every day, so everything from apartments to grocery stores to hiking trails is always being developed in the area. It’s truly a wonderful place to live!

What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to budget travel! I backpacked through Southeast Asia before medical school, and it has been one of my most memorable experiences. Some of the most unforgettable times I had on that trip were staying with a Hmong family in Vietnam, riding a motorcycle in Laos, and eating street food in Thailand. Other than traveling, I also really enjoy running, playing basketball, and sitting outside on a beautiful day.

What is something surprising/interesting about you?
I grew up in Hawaii, England, and Canada before moving to North Carolina, so I've been a citizen of three countries!
