Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a residency program that would provide me with a supportive and loving community. Duke has just that--I’m surrounded by faculty, mentors and colleagues who place a strong emphasis on well-being while also encouraging you to challenge yourself both personally and professionally.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
I believe one of the greatest strengths of our pediatric program is the numerous opportunities for community outreach and patient advocacy. It’s been incredible to see how intertwined Duke Pediatrics is within the Durham community, through initiatives like the in-clinic food pantry and collaborative efforts with social work to reduce the socioeconomic barriers new parents face in providing for their babies. Another great strength is our night shift schedule--we work a night shift every other night!

About Duke and Durham

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my black lab puppy - Luna. We enjoy going for hikes along the Eno River and exploring all the numerous breweries and restaurants within the Triangle.
