As many as 30 million Americans live with a rare or undiagnosed disease. Many spend years seeing doctors, undergoing tests, and scouring the internet in a desperate search for answers. Vandana Shashi, MD, professor of pediatrics in the Division of Medical Genetics, and the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) clinical site at Duke give these patients a new avenue of hope.

This year Duke Friends of Nursing was excited to return to an in-person gala celebration of the Friends of Nursing Award Winners on May 14, 2022 at the Durham Convention Center.

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce a request for applications (RFA) for funding to support PACE (Protected Analytics Computing Environment) access, made possible by proceeds from Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) fundraising activities for the Department of Pediatrics and the Duke Pediatric Research Scholars Program (DPRS).

Duke University Med/Peds Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program—one of only a few in the country offering combined training in adult and pediatric rheumatology—is receiving a grant from the Arthritis Foundation to support a new fellow.

Co-Chief Resident Anna E. Williams, MD was recently selected as a recipient of the American Society of Nephrology's 2022 Loan Mitigation Pilot Program (LMPP).

Rebecca Hatcher Buckley, MD, James Buren Sidbury Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine in the Division of Allergy and Immunology, recently announced her retirement following nearly five decades of service at Duke University.

Rasheed Gbadegesin, MD, MBBS, was recently elected into the Association of American Physicians (AAP).
