Willis-Wallace named Vice Chair of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Jasmine Willis-Wallace, EdD, MS, has been named vice chair of equity, diversity and inclusion in the Duke Department of Pediatrics, effective July 1, 2022.

Dr. Willis-Wallace joins us from the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa where she served as director of diversity, equity and inclusion. She is an accomplished professional with a solid background in diversity, equity and inclusion work in higher education administration, student affairs, teaching, training and development. In addition, she has over 10 years of professional experience in team leadership, program management, and resource management.

“Dr. Willis-Wallace’s impressive strengths and experience make her an ideal leader for our vice chair of equity, diversity and inclusion,” said Ann M. Reed, MD, the Samuel L. Katz Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics, chair of the Department of Pediatrics, and physician-in-chief, Duke Children’s. “We are fortunate to have her join the department in this essential new leadership role.”

Dr. Willis-Wallace earned a doctorate of education with a focus on higher education administration and a master of science in college student development and counseling from Northeastern University in Boston. She earned her bachelor of science in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

“Everything that I have done in my career, I've always made sure to include EDI work,” Willis-Wallace said. “Whether that is presenting at conferences, attending conferences — all to build my knowledge of this work and make sure I am fluent in the world of EDI.”
