New and competing renewal awards for October / November 2021

October 2021

Monica Lemmon (Neurology) received an award from Child Neurology Foundation Award in the amount of $30,000 for a project entitled, Decision Aid for Infants with Neurology Conditions. The project period is 10/01/2021-09/30/2023.

Lars Wagner (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from Atrium Health in the amount of $7,000 for a project entitled, Neuroblastoma Maintenance Therapy Trial Using Difluoromethylornithine. The project period is 12/01/2021 – 07/03/2023.

November 2021

Samia Aleem (Neonatology) received an award from Airway Therapeutics for $95,573 for a project entitled, Safety and Tolerability of AT-100 (RHSP-D) in Preterm Neonates at High Risk for Development of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia. The project period is 10/27/2021-09/30/2022. 

Stephen Balevic (Rheumatology) received an award from Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance for $49,140 for a project entitled, CARRA-Arthritis Foundation Small Grant. The project period is 07/01/2021-06/30/2023. 

Michael Freemark (Endocrinology) and Elizabeth Greene received an award from Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society in the amount of $50,000 for a project entitled, Effects of Metformin on Influenza Outcomes. The project period is 07/01/2021-06/30/2022. 

Rasheed Gbadegesin (Nephrology) received an award from Travera Therapeutics in the amount $194,558 for a project entitled, A Phase Open-Label Single-Arm Cohort Study to Evaluate the Safety, Efficacy, and Pharmacokinetics of Sparsentan Treatment in Pediatric Subjects with Selected Proteinuric Glomerular Diseases. The project period is 11/18/2021-10/31/2023. 

Dwight Koeberl (Medical Genetics) received an award from Moderna Therapeutics in the amount of $829,267 for a project entitled, A Phase 1/2, Global, Open-Label, Extension Study to Evaluate the Long-Term Safety and Clinical Activity of mRNA-3927 in Participants Previously Enrolled in the MRNA-3927-P101 Study. The project period is 11/01/2021-10/31/2029. 

Andrew Landstrom (Cardiology) received an award from the University of British Columbia/Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in the amount of $150 (per patient) for a project entitled, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Therapy in Catecholaminergic Ventricular. The project period is 11/22/2021-06/30/2022. 

Andrew Landstrom (Cardiology) received an award from the University of British Columbia/Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in the amount of $300 (per patient+$940 for startup cost) for a project entitled, Improving Diagnosis and Treatment in CPVT. The project period is 11/22/2021-06/30/2022. 

Corrine Linardic (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from Public Health Institute in the amount of $7,834 for a project entitled, Study Chair: COG NCTN Network Group Operations Center. The project period is 03/01/2021-02/28/2022.

Marie McDonald (Medical Genetics) received an award from Genzyme Corporation in the amount of $75,000 for a project entitled, Residency in Medical Genetics at Duke University. The project period is 07/26/2021-06/30/2024. 

William Steinbach (Infectious Diseases) received an award from Sfunga Therapeutics in the amount of $94,990 for a project entitled, Expanded Pre-Clinical Aspergillosis Experimental Plan for Sfu-AM-2-19. The project period is 11/01/2021-06/01/2022. 

Muhammad Zafar (Neurology) received an award from Neurocrine Biosciences in the amount of $177,992 for a project entitled, A Phase 2 Multicenter Randomized Double-blind Placebo-Controlled Parallel Group Study to Assess the Efficacy Safety Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of NBI - 827104 in Pediatric Subjects with Epileptic Encephalopathy with Continuous Spike and Wave During Sleep. The project period is TBD.
