The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics for the month of February 2021.
Kaveh Ardalan, MD (Rheumatology) received an award from the Rheumatology Research Foundation in the amount of $ 375,000 for an award entitled, Psychological Stress and Cardiovascular Heart in Juvenile Lupus and Dermatomyositis. The project period is 07/01/2021-06/30/2024.
Karl-Dimiter Bissig, MD, PhD (Medical Genetics) and William Lagor, PhD (Molecular Physiology and Biophysics / Baylor) received his transfer award from National Institutes of Health/NHLBI in the amount of $549,652 for a project entitled, Therapeutic Potential of CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Engineering in Humanized Mouse. The project period is 02/01/2021-04/30/2021.
Yeh-Chung Chang, MD (Infectious Diseases) received an award from Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. in the amount of $132,268 or a project entitled, A Phase 2 Open-Label Single-Arm, Sequential-Panel Study to Evaluate the Pharmacokinetics, Safety and Tolerability o Posaconazole (PoS, MK 5592) in Pediatric Participants from Birth to < 2 Years of age with Invasive Fungal Infection. The project period is 09/30/2020-06/30/2025.
C. Michael Cotton, MD (Neonaology) received bridge funding for an additional two years from the National Institutes of Health/NICHD in the amount of $557,566 for the continuation of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Cooperative Multicenter Neonatal Research Network. The project period is 04/01/2021-03/31/2023.
Jennifer Li, MD (Cardiology) received an award from the New England Research Institute in the amount of $151,110 for a project entitled, The NIH Longitudinal Study for Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome Therapies in Children. The project period is 01/01/2021-06/30/2025.
Lars Wagner, MD (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from Nemours Foundation in the amount of $37,558 for a project entitled, Implementing Family Psychosocial Risk Screening for Pediatric Healthy Equity. The project period is 01/01/2021-12/31/2021.
Lars Wagner, MD (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in the amount of $10,087 for a project entitled, Evolutionary Inspired Therapy for Newly Diagnosed, Metastatic Fusion Positive Rhabdomyosarcoma. The project period is 12/01/2020-07/01/2021.
Emmanuel Walter, MD, MPH (Infectious Diseases) received an award from Pfizer, Inc. in the amount of $687,913 for a project entitled, A Phase 1, Open-Label Dose-Finding and Phase 2/3 Placebo-Controlled, Observer-Blinded Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability, and Immunogenicity of a Sars-Cov-2 RNA Vaccine Candidate Against Covid-19 in Healthy Children 5 to 12 years of Age. The project period is 02/15/2021-02/14/2023.
