Duke experts brief NC lawmakers on COVID-19 issues

Duke State Relations and Duke University Communications hosted a virtual briefing for North Carolina lawmakers on Thursday, October 1 to discuss a variety of COVID-19 related issues. Over 20 legislators and legislative staff attended the briefing. The expert panel from Duke included: Charlene Wong, MD, MSHP, associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Primary Care and associate professor in the Sanford School of  Public Policy; Bart Haynes, MD, professor of medicine and director of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute; Cameron Wolfe, MBBS, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases; and Connel Fullenkamp, PhD, professor of the practice of economics and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Economics. Panelists discussed vaccine development and research at Duke, the economy, the pandemic’s effect on children and returning to school, and updates on the spread of COVID-19 in North Carolina.
