Civility Champions

A cohort of Department of Pediatrics faculty and trainees have been trained to offer informal support in response to incidents of bias, harassment, or other unprofessional behaviors they experience or witness in the healthcare workplace.

Civility Champions provide support; explore options for intervention or reporting; model Duke’s commitment to addressing the harm these incidents cause; and strengthen our community by working toward an environment of healing and care. Civility Champions undergo six hours of interactive training with an eye toward restorative justice and improving the culture by addressing individuals who may have been harmed in the workplace.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to making our workplace safe, healthy, and supportive for our faculty, staff, trainees, and patients. A positive work culture depends on a foundation of mutual respect and civility. If you experience or witness an incident, please contact one of our  Department of Pediatrics Civility Champions by email.  Click the photo of the person you wish to connect with.

If you are in immediate danger, please contact Duke Campus Police (9-1-1).
