Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I wanted an academic program where I could be exposed to everything and have strong mentorship to help me decide what I want to do within pediatrics. That describes a lot of places, so I looked for one where the people were cool and the weather was nice.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Welcoming, supportive, big enough that there's no shortage of interesting people but small enough to not get lost in the mix.

About Duke and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The weather is great, there's a ton to do that's easily accessible, and it's a low-stress place to live.

What advice would you give about moving to Durham?
There are a bunch of great places to live that aren't far from the hospital, and you should be able to find whatever you're looking for.

Personal interests

What do you like to do outside of work?
Explore North Carolina, look for new places to take my dog, hangout in my backyard, read a ton, entice friends into moving here.

What is something interesting/surprising about you?

I was a piano tuner in high school.
