Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a medium-sized program that would provide a solid foundation in general pediatrics while also allowing exposure to subspecialties. Continuity was a large part of what drew me to medicine, so continuity with clinic patients was very important to me. Finally, I was looking for a place that emphasized teaching in a safe, supportive environment.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The biggest strengths of Duke are its people and its environment. Attendings, residents, medical students, nurses, and other staff are eager to teach and learn. There is also a wide variety of patient care opportunities here. You see both the typical pediatric diagnoses and the very rare cases.

About Duke and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham allows easy accessibility to pretty much anything you would want to find. Great food, shows, hiking trails, mountains, and beaches can all be reached in less than a few hours.

Personal interests

What do you like to do outside of work?
I love doing jigsaw puzzles, having game nights, visiting zoos, reading fantasy novels, and seeing Broadway plays.
