Reflections on the Duke program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program where I would feel supported by program leadership, faculty, and my co-residents. I also wanted a strong foundation in general pediatrics with exposure to many pediatric subspecialties to help me solidify my future career path. Lastly, I am interested in research and in medical education, so wanted to go to a program where there were opportunities to get involved in these in residency.
What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you (i.e. committees, research, interest groups, QI, etc.)?
About Duke and Durham
What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
There is so much nature and beauty to explore in the Triangle - so many state parks, lakes, and trails and I constantly find new ones that I haven't been to before! The weather makes it possible to be outside year-round. Between Durham and Chapel Hill, the food scene is great (let me know if you want any recs!) and if you want a change you can wander to Raleigh or Cary for really good spots there too. I love the energy in the air here during basketball season - even though there's only one right shade of blue to cheer for, it makes for a very fun few months of friendly rivalries.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to swim, hike/go for long walks, and try out new restaurants or new recipes at home. I recently started playing pickleball and I’m a big fan!
