REFLECTIONS ON THE DUKE PROGRAM

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a medium-sized program at a top-tier academic institution that offered exposure to the entire spectrum of pediatrics, ranging from routine well-child visits to highly complex inpatient cases. Equally important was finding a supportive training environment where I would be valued as a team member and encouraged to ask questions and learn. I was also born and raised in North Carolina, so the location made Duke the perfect fit!

What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you?
I want to become more involved in medical education, advocacy, and research (once I decide on a career path). I am excited to see how these interests evolve since the opportunities at Duke are seemingly unlimited!

What are you looking forward to most about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I am excited to have the amenities of a city, such as a fantastic food scene and competitive sports teams like basketball, volleyball, and hockey, while still being able to easily access outdoor areas for running and walking. I also love taking weekend trips to the mountains or the beach!

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by running and walking, spending time with family and friends, and baking new recipes.

What is something interesting/surprising about you?
I love anything and everything Disney!
