REFLECTIONS ON THE DUKE PROGRAM
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I'm looking for a residency program to help me become the best physician I can be, like the doctors who cared for my older sister when I was younger. I'm also looking for a residency program to help me develop my scientific skills to become a great scientist and help expand our collective knowledge to help treat patients.
What do you want to get involved in at Duke that particularly interests you?
As part of my research training, I'm particularly interested in hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, and genetics. I want to expand upon my experience in genetics research to answer medical questions. I want to continue my community outreach to younger students through health and medical education, mentoring, and tutoring in math and science. I would be interested in a running/physical training interest group to help keep me physically active during residency.

What are you looking forward to most about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I'm looking forward to exploring Durham's scenery and local food spots with my girlfriend, and I'm also looking forward to working in the medical and research space at Durham and the Triangle! I look forward to caring for my future patients and their families in Durham and growing as a physician-scientist!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to practice strength conditioning at the gym and walk/run, preferably up to 5 kilometers at a time. I also enjoy relaxing with good movies, shows, and good food with my girlfriend.
What is something interesting/surprising about you?
I could not talk until I was about 4-5 years old. I had an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and was in speech therapy from Kindergarten until the 5th grade.
