Lemmon Named Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology

Monica Lemmon, MD, has been named Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology within the Department of Pediatrics, effective April 2025. 

Recently, Dr. Lemmon was an associate Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University in the division of Pediatric Neurology. She serves as an affiliate of Duke’s Science and Society Program, where she taught Clinical Bioethics and Health Policy. She is a core faculty member within the Duke Margolis Institute for Health Policy, and an associate faculty member in the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities and History of Medicine.
 
Dr. Lemmon has spent her career engaging in scholarships around ethics, communication, and community engagement. She currently serves on multiple committees within the Child Neurology Society (CNS) and American Academy of Neurology (AAN), including service as the Child Neurology Society’s appointed representative for the AAN’s Ethics, Law, and Humanities Committee. She has given oral and/or keynote presentations at national meetings of the CNS, AAN, American Epilepsy Society, Newborn Brain Society, and Pediatric Academic Societies national meetings in recent years. Her clinical and research career has been dedicated to learning how clinicians can be a best partner in shared decision making and communicate with empathy amidst crisis.
