COVID Testing Options

At Duke Children’s General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health, we are dedicated to serving our families and recognize how difficult it is to have your child tested for COVID easily.  In order to serve you better, we have several options for testing your children. 

  • If your child is having mild symptoms (runny nose, cough, headache, fever, minor GI issues), and you feel your child does not need a doctor’s visit then please MyChart your provider requesting a COVID test be ordered. If you are not on MyChart, you can call our main number, 919-620-5333, and select to speak to the triage nurse. Our triage nurses would be happy to assist you in setting up a COVID test for your child. 
  • If you would like to have your child seen by one of our providers for symptoms, then please call 919-620-5333 to schedule an appointment, and the provider can perform the COVID test during the visit. 
  • If we are unable to perform testing as quickly as you would like, you can also access testing via one of the following community resources whether your child has symptoms or remains symptom-free but was exposed to someone with COVID. Please see list below.

Opciones para la prueba de COVID

En las clínicas de cuidado primario de Duke Children's, estamos dedicados a servir a nuestras familias y reconocemos lo difícil que puede ser que a sus niños se le haga la prueba de COVID. Para brindarle un mejor servicio, tenemos varias opciones para efectuar estas pruebas a sus hijos.

  • Si su hijo tiene síntomas leves (secreción nasal, tos, dolor de cabeza, fiebre, problemas gastrointestinales menores) y usted cree que su hijo no necesita una visita al médico, solicite a través de MyChart a su proveedor médico que ordene una prueba de COVID. Si no tiene la aplicación MyChart, puede llamar a nuestro número principal, 919-620-5333, y seleccionar hablar con la enfermera de triaje. Con mucho gusto nuestras enfermeras de triaje lo ayudaran a programar una prueba de COVID para su hijo.
  • Si desea que su hijo sea atendido en persona por uno de nuestros proveedores médicos por síntomas, llame al 919-620-5333 para programar una cita y el proveedor puede realizar la prueba de COVID durante la visita.
  • Si no podemos realizar las pruebas tan rápido como a usted le gustaría, usted puede acceder a dichas pruebas a través de uno de los siguientes recursos comunitarios ya sea que su hijo tenga síntomas o si este permanece libre de síntomas, pero estuvo expuesto a alguien con COVID.
