Emily Sterrett, assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Emergency Medicine, has been named the Director of Improvement Science in the Department of Pediatrics, effective January 1, 2019.
Sterrett earned her medical degree and residency in pediatrics at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed her pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and joined the faculty in the Division of Emergency Medicine in October 2016. Over the past two years, Sterrett has led an impressive number of quality improvement projects including migraine headaches, fever in high-risk populations, safe patient handovers, and standardizing child abuse evaluations. She is currently an Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Quality Scholar, and she is participating in Cincinnati Children’s Intermediate Improvement Science Series course.
Working directly with Vice Chair for Quality, Heather McLean, MD, Sterrett will lead the effort to implement a quality improvement and leadership educational course in her new role.
