New and competing renewal awards for October 2018

The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics through the month of October 2018. Please extend your congratulations to the following individuals.

Klaus-Georg Werner (Neurology) received an award from the University of Alabama (National Institutes of Health) in the amount of $24,406 for a project entitled “Preventing Epilepsy Using Vigabatrin in Infants with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (PREVeNT Trial)”. The project period is 06/01/2018-05/31/2019.

David Van Mater (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (Children's Tumor Foundation) in the amount of $15,134 for a project entitled “NF1-OPG”. The project period is 02/01/2018 – 01/31/2021.

Charles Gersbach (Biomedical Engineering) and David Van Mater (Hematology-Oncology) received an award from the Gilbert Family Foundation in the amount of $1,775,396 for a project entitled “Genome Editing with Engineered Vectors to Correct Neurofibromatosis Type 1”. The project period is 12/01/2018 – 11/30/2021.

Suhag Parikh (Blood and Marrow Transplantation) received an award from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in the amount of $5,999 for a project entitled ”Antiviral Cellular Therapy for Enhancing T-cell Reconstitution Following Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (ACES)”. The project period is 04/01/2018 – 03/31/2022.
