New and competing renewal awards, May 2017

The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics for the month of May 2017. 

Mohamad Mikati (Neurology) has received an award from Cure AHC in the amount of $50,000 for a project entitled, “Knock in Mouse Model of M813K ATP1A2 Mutation.” The project period is 3/1/2017 – 2/28/2018.

Kevin Hill (Cardiology)has received an award from the New England Research Institutes Inc in the amount of $173,827 for a project entitled, “A Phase III Safety Extension Study of Udenafil in Adolescents with Single Ventricle Physiology after Fontan Palliation (FUEL Extenstion).” The project period is 4/26/2017 – 1/31/2022.

Paul Martin (Blood and Marrow Transplantation) has received an award from Jazz Pharmaceuticals in the amount of $165,117 for a project entitled, “Defibrotide Phase III Comparing Defibrotide vs. Best Supportive Care.” The project period is 1/1/2017 – 12/31/2021.

Priya Kishnani (Medical Genetics) has received an award from Biomarin in the amount of $290,200 for a project entitled, “MorQuio A Registry Study.” The project period is 4/6/2017 – 1/31/2020.

Heather Henderson (Cardiology)has received an award from Novartis Pharmaceuticals in the amount of $278,189 for a project entitled, “Multicenter, Open-label, Single Dose Study to Evaluate Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of LCZ696 Followed by a 52 Week Randomized, Double-blind, Parallel Group, Active-controlled Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of LCZ696 Compared with Enalapril in Pediatric Patients from 1 Month to <18 years of Age with Heart Failure Due to Systemic Left Ventricle Systolic Dysfunction.” The project period is 1/1/2016 – 9/30/2021.

Rebecca Buckley (Allergy and Immunology) has received an award from Orchard Therapeutics in the amount of $135,001 for a project entitled, “Comparative Data for UCLA’s HSCT for ADA SCID Project.” The project period is 5/25/2017 – 7/31/2018.

Daniel Benjamin (Infectious Diseases) has received an award from the NIH in the amount of $428,585 for a project entitled, “PTN TO#47 (Protocol Development V).” The project period is 5/15/2017 – 5/14/2018.
