New and competing renewal awards for March / April 2018

The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics through the month of April 2018. Please extend your congratulations to the following individuals.

Kevin Hill (Cardiology) has received an award from the New England Research Institute in the amount of $129,497 for a project entitled, “NERI Protocol Agreement: Fontan Udenafil Exercise Longitudinal Assessment Trial”.  The project period is 07/01/2017 – 06/30/2024.

Kevin Hill (Cardiology) has received an award from the New England Research Institute in the amount of $190,438 for a project entitled, “NERI Protocol Agreement: Fontan Udenafil Exercise Longitudinal Assessment Trial - OLE”.  The project period is 04/04/2017 – 08/31/2024.

Jennifer Li (Cardiology) has received an award from the New England Research Institute in the amount of $27,300 for a project entitled, “NERI Protocol Agreement: Pediatric Heart Network, SVRIII”.  The project period is 07/01/2017 – 06/30/2024.

Debra Best (Primary Care) has received an award from the American Academy of Pediatrics in the amount of $10,000 for a project entitled, “Promoting Resilience in Teen Parents”.  The project period is 03/01/2018-02/28/2019.

Ashlee Stiles (Medical Genetics) has received an award from Shire Human Genetic Therapies, Inc. in the amount of $218,455 for a project entitled “Development of deacylated glucosylceramide (lyso-Gb1) biomarker in plasma samples from Gaucher disease patients and evaluating its’ feasibility in monitoring patients on therapy.”  The project period is 03/05/2018-02/29/2020.

Baodong Sun (Medical Genetics) has received an award from Actus Therapeutics in the amount of $114,222 for a project entitled “Invivo AAV8 Pharm/Tox Study.”  The project period is 04/01/2018-09/30/2018.

Michael Deel (Hematology-Oncology) has received an award from St. Baldrick’s Foundation in the amount of $94,656 for a project entitled “Investigating the role of the transcriptional coactivator TAZ in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.”  The project period is 07/01/2018-06/30/2019.

Deeksha Bali (Medical Genetics) has received an award from Swedish Orphan Core Lab in the amount of $58,157 for a project entitled” Development and validation of skin fibroblast Cross Reactive Immunological (CRIM) assay for MPSIIIa”.  The project period is 4/16/2018-12/31/2019.

Salim Idriss (Cardiology) has received an award from St. Jude Medical/Abbott in the amount of $15,000 for a project entitled “St. Jude Medical Education Fellowship Grant”.  The project period is 07/01/2018-06/30/2019.

Christoph Hornik (Critical Care Medicine) has received an award from Purdue Pharma in the amount of $4,129,249 for a project entitled “A Nationally Representative Drug Utilization Study of OxyContin in Children Aged 17 years and younger”.  The project period is 04/18/2018-04/17/2020.
