New and competing renewal awards for December 2018

The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics through the month of December 2018. Please extend your congratulations to these individuals.

Priya S. Kishnani (Medical Genetics) received an award from Amicus Therapeutics Corporation in the amount of $551,971 for a research study entitled “Developing a management approach for patients with the “late-onset” Pompe disease GAA variant identified by newborn screening.”  The project period is 11/29/2018 to11/28/2020.  

Edward C. Smith (Neurology) received an award from Actus Therapeutics in the amount of $155,633 for a research study entitled “Gene Therapy for Pompe Disease.”  The project period is 11/20/2018 – 11/19/2019.

Edward C. Smith (Neurology) received an award from AveXis, Inc. in the amount of $586,741 for a research study entitled “A Prospective, Long Term Registry of Patients with a Diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.”  The project period is 12/13/2018 – 10/31/2038.

Michael A. Moody (Infectious Diseases) received an award from Boston Children’s Hospital in the amount of $560,000 for a research study entitled “Defining and Redirecting Influenza Immunity after Imprinting.” National Institutes of Health is a prime sponsor.  The project period is 08/01/2017 – 07/31/2019.

Baodong Sun (Medical Genetics) received an award from Asklepios BioPharmaceutical, Inc. in the amount of $600,000 for a research study entitled “Feasibility of using Bortezomib-based immunosuppressive approach to deplete anti-AAV antibodies in mice.”  The project period is 12/01/2018 – 11/30/2020.

Chi Hornik (Neonatology) received an award from Basilea Pharmaceutica in the amount of $57,796 for a research study entitled “An open-label study to evaluate the single-dose pharmacokinetics and safety of ceftobiprole in neonate and infant subjects aged up to 3 months undergoing treatment with systemic antibiotics.” The research period is 11/28/2018 – 12/31/2021.
