New and competing renewal awards for August 2017

The following are new and competing renewal awards made to faculty in the Department of Pediatrics for the month of August 2017. 

Coleen Cunningham (Infectious Diseases) has received an award from the Health Resources and Service Administration in the amount of $513,750 for a project entitled, “Ryan White HIV/Aids Program Part D Grants for Coordinated HIV Services and Access to Research for Women, Infants, Children, and Youth Existing Geographic Service Areas”. The project period is 08/01/2017-07/31/2020.

Richard Kravitz (Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine) has received an award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the “Duke CF Center” in the amount of $53,270. The project period is 07/01/2017-06/30/2018.

Joanne Kurtzberg (Blood and Marrow Transplantation) has received an award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in the amount of $1,237,711 for a project entitled “Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network”. The project period is 07/27/2017-06/30/2024.

Shashi Nagaraj (Nephrology) has received an award from Alexion Pharmaceuticals in the amount of $97,558 for a project entitled, “Phase 3, Open-Label Multicenter Study of ALX1210 in Children and Adolescents with Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS)”. The project period is 08/10/2017-01/31/2020.

Kevin Hill (Cardiology) has received an award from Actellon Pharmaceuticals in the amount of $407,992 for a project entitled “A multicenter, open –label randomized, event-driven study to assess efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics of macitentan versus standard of care in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension”. The project period is 08/17/2017-06/30/2024.

Yong-Hui Jiang (Medical Genetics) and Jian Jin (Mount Sinai) have received an award from National Institutes of Health in the amount of $2,810,711 for a project entitled, “Epigenetic Therapy and Prader-Willi Syndrome. The project period is 09/01/2017-05/31/2022.
