2019 Faculty and Staff Awards

The Duke Department of Pediatrics Faculty and Staff Awards Program is designed to celebrate faculty, staff and trainees who have made outstanding contributions in one or more of the department’s critical mission areas, including patient care, education, research and advocacy. The 2019 faculty and staff awards ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, June 11 following Grand Rounds, included the following recipients.

Staff Awards

 

Customer Service Award
Awarded in recognition of outstanding customer service.

Gloria Howard [Human Resources]

Unsung Hero Award
Awarded in recognition of consistently providing significant service to the department that often goes unrecognized.

Alicia Russell [Neurology]

Leadership Award
Awarded in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in leadership and/or management.

Scott Heflin [Graduate Medical Education]

Excellence in Teamwork Award
Awarded in recognition of effectively accomplishing the mission/goals of the department.

Amanda Coates [Hematology/Oncology]

Diane Crayton Service Award
Awarded to an administrative professional who consistently demonstrates dedication to the department, service to others and constant pursuit of excellence.

Gwen Pfeifer [Chairman’s Office – Finance]

Children’s Champion Award
Awarded in recognition of crossing reporting barriers to go above and beyond to help patients and improve the work environment.

Jillian Hurst, PhD [CTSI Administration]

Awarded in recognition of excellence in mentorship of faculty/trainees in patient care, teaching, research, leadership and advocacy.

Amelia Thompson, MD [Infectious Diseases]

Master Clinician Award
Awarded to an active clinician who demonstrates and models a commitment to patient well being and exceptional efforts to improve delivery of care.

Robert Benjamin, MD [Endocrinology]

Awarded to an active clinician who demonstrates and models a commitment to patient well being and exceptional efforts to improve delivery of care.

Leon "Yul" Reinstein, MD [Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition]
