My research interests focus on the mechanisms of thymus engraftment after transplantation of cultured, allogeneic, postnatal thymus in infants born with athymia (complete DiGeorge Syndrome). I am interested in the signals that attract progenitor cells from the host bone marrow to the transplanted thymus and the differentiation of the transplanted thymus tissue into functional, but HLA mismatched, mature thymus. My research interests also include the diversification of the T cell receptor repertoire in the peripheral blood after thymus transplantation and the mechanisms that control T cell homeostasis.
