Reflections on the Duke program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I chose Duke Pediatrics because I wanted a program that was close-knit, warm, and supportive of one another at the faculty and resident level. I am also very passionate about diversity recruitment and retention and wanted a program that would support my efforts, demonstrate inclusion, and serve a breadth of diverse patients. I felt as though Duke Children's was genuinely invested in the success of diverse house staff, faculty, and patients and I continue to feel right at home!
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Duke Children's is unique because it provides care to a wide range of patients who speak multiple languages, come from multiple backgrounds, with complex disease processes seeking an improvement in their wellness. There is never a shortage of learning, resShauearch or clinical skills building at our program. And of course, the biggest strength is the amazing people you get to spend your time with learning about patient care!
About Duke University and Durham
What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham and the Triangle is a great place to live especially due to the mild winters! I have particularly enjoyed the live arts scene including jazz/hiphop festivals, wine and paint night, food exhibitions, and the open mic nights. Whether you're looking for nightlife, outdoor fun, a variety of tantalizing food, art, live concerts, or sports it’s all here in the Triangle!
Personal interests
What do you like to do outside of work?
