Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
A medium-sized program with a strong reputation at an academic center with a friendly atmosphere and camaraderie among residents.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
I'm just starting to get to know Duke from the resident's prospective, but what I've really enjoyed so far is how well residents get along with one another and help each other. The atmosphere encourages hard work, but also learning. Residents and attendings know one another. It's an amazing academic institution in a great community that keeps growing!

About Duke University and Durham

What’s best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham may be a small city, but it's packed with things to do! There's new restaurants and breweries popping up all the time. It's got a great sports rivalry to throw yourself into even if you aren't already a fan.  And there's lots of places to run and hike especially if you like trails.

Personal interests

What do you like to do outside of work?
Running, watching Pittsburgh and Duke sports, exploring craft beer and new restaurants, DIY home projects, and spending time with my wife Alexa, family, and friends.

What is something interesting/surprising about you?
I'm a big comics nerd. Have been since I was little and something I still enjoy today!
