Special Focus Programs

The Division of Neonatology offers trainees the opportunity to develop special expertise in specific areas that will prepare them for a career in  perinatal and neonatal medicine. These focus areas include:
 
  • Developmental Biology A number of opportunities exist at Duke to provide a background and research opportunities in various aspects of Developmental and Stem Cell Biology to students and fellows associated with the Neonatal-Perinatal Research Institute.  More>>   
     
  • Pulmonary Biology This multidisciplinary program for physician-scientists is designed to provide in-depth background and experience in research in lung biology.  More>>  

  • Translational Neuroscience Several ongoing programs, groups or seminars here at Duke focus on translational research aspects in neuroscience and are relevant to the perinatal period. Learn more here.  More>>

  • Biomedical Engineering This program explores research opportunities that use light to allow subsurfacing imaging at the micron level.  More>>

  • Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up This program provides clinical training in the care of premature and sick infants, as well as medical and neurodevelopmental follow-up care post-discharge, including training in neurodevelopmental follow-up and other outcome research methods.  More>>
