Philanthropy
The practice of Medical Genetics is a tremendously gratifying yet
demanding discipline. As one of the nation’s leaders in this important
medical discipline, Duke’s Division of Medical Genetics is providing
state-of-the-art medical care to our patients with any variety of
genetic diseases. Philanthropic support from both foundations and
individuals—in gifts both large and small—play an essential role in
fostering these efforts. Many of the children and adults we diagnose
discover that many of their medical concerns can, at present, only be
treated supportively, rather than cured. Our faculty and staff have
dedicated their professional development to address this need.
Currently, our division fosters training as well as clinical and basic
research initiatives that will lead to cures for a number of disorders in dire need of such efforts.
