Pediatric Interest Group

The Pediatric Interest Group is a student-run organization, supported by the Duke Department of Pediatrics, that provides service activities, mentorship/career planning, and advocacy in pediatrics. It is for students interested in a career in general pediatrics, pediatric subspecialties or for those who just enjoy working with children. The executive committee meets regularly with our faculty sponsor from the department of pediatrics to coordinate activities between students, faculty members, and residents.

Some of the current activities of the PedsIG have included Halloween parades with the inpatient pediatrics ward, holiday-themed parties at the Children's center, and career-focused faculty and resident panels. There are also opportunities for students to be matched with a faculty and resident mentor designed to help take advantage of Duke's greatest natural resource--its people. Those interested in the Peds IG can contact Ashley Presar at ashley.presar@duke.edu or Lisa Nowell at lisa.nowell@duke.edu.
