Mission Statement

Environment

The Department of Pediatrics is fully integrated with the Children’s Clinical Service Unit created by Duke Hospital. All inpatient pediatric services are located on the fifth floor of Duke Hospital and utilize 61 intermediate care beds, 20 pediatric critical care beds, 16 pediatric bone marrow transplant beds, and 52 neonatal intensive care beds, for a total of 149 beds. Currently, the Division of Neonatology also staffs a 12 bed Level II-III critical care nursery at Durham Regional Hospital.
 
Pediatric primary care services are provided at three locations in Durham County, including Roxboro Road, Pickett Road, and Herndon Road. A full spectrum of ambulatory specialty services is provided in the McGovern-Davison Children’s Health Center adjacent to Duke Hospital. The Department also offers selected specialty services at the Duke Children’s Consultative Clinic in Raleigh, including cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, nephrology, gastroenterology, and allergy-immunology. The Department recently established a pediatric cardiology practice in Fayetteville, N.C.
