Fellowship Program Summary

The goal of the Snyderman Foundation Fellowship in Personalized Medicine and Childhood Obesity Prevention is comprehensive preparation of clinician-scientists as Childhood Obesity Specialists. The fellowship training program meets this goal by combining clinical and research training in a variety of areas related to prevention and treatment of childhood obesity. The clinical experience includes patient care in a multidisciplinary obesity treatment program designed for children and families as well as rotations in cardiology, pulmonology, sports medicine, gastroenterology, nutrition, and endocrinology. The fellowship includes a strong research component, with graduate level training in clinical investigation (MPH or equivalent degree to be obtained during fellowship), two clinical research projects (including a detailed analysis of the efficacy of the Healthy Lifestyles Program), and structured mentoring.

The Childhood Obesity Training Program was established by Ralph Snyderman, MD, former Chancellor and CEO of Duke University.
