Faculty in the Division of Child Development and Behavioral Health are engaged in a wide range of research related to pediatric development and behavioral health.

Research Interests

Specific research interests in child development include:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Fragile X genetic counseling
  • Fragile X phenotyp/genotype clinical correlation studies
  • Family adaptation to genetic disorders
  • Down syndrome
  • Pompe disease
  • Pain and quality of life in children with chronic medical conditions
  • Adolescent and young adult substance use treatments

These efforts occur in collaboration with other Duke University Medical Center research groups, including the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Division of Medical Genetics.


Clinical Trials

Specific treatment trials for children and adolescents with ADHD, anxiety disorders, Down syndrome, substance abuse, or a recent suicide attempt are available on referral by Division faculty affiliated with such research programs.
